Report Neglect or Abuse in a California Nursing Home
California has over 1,200 licensed nursing homes. Thousands of violations are filed every year — and many more go unreported because residents are afraid, isolated, or unable to speak for themselves. Your report can change that.

Nursing home abuse and neglect in California is widely underreported. When complaints are filed in isolation, they are easier for facilities and regulators to dismiss. But when multiple people speak up about the same issue, it becomes much harder to ignore.
CareWatch California is actively collecting accounts related to abuse and neglect in nursing home facilities across the state. If you or someone you know has experienced or witnessed any of the following, your support strengthens the case for a formal investigation:
- Physical abuse by staff or other residents
- Malnutrition, dehydration, and failure to provide basic care
- Medication errors or deliberate over-sedation
- Unexplained injuries or repeated hospitalizations
- Isolation from family members
By signing below, you are authorizing CareWatch California to contact your state representatives on your behalf and urge them to investigate this issue. You are not filing a complaint — if you want to do that, you can do so on our Report Abuse page.
