Improper Billing
Improper billing is one of the most widespread forms of healthcare fraud in California — and one of the least reported. Patients and families rarely see the full picture until it's too late. If something on your bill didn't add up, your account matters.

Improper billing affects patients across every type of California healthcare facility — from nursing homes to psychiatric centers to addiction treatment programs. Individual complaints are frequently dismissed as billing errors. A pattern of accounts is much harder to ignore.
CareWatch California is actively collecting accounts related to improper billing practices across the state. If you or someone you know experienced any of the following, your support strengthens the case for regulatory action:
- Charges for services, appointments, or medications never received
- Billing at a higher rate than the care actually provided
- The same charge appearing multiple times on a statement
- Out-of-pocket costs that exceeded what your insurance should have covered
- Pressure from a facility to pay amounts that seemed incorrect or inflated
By signing below, you are authorizing CareWatch California to contact your state representatives on your behalf and urge them to investigate this issue. You are not filing a complaint — if you want to do that, you can do so on our Report Abuse page.
